Some information from Monitor Audio
Sharing the technical and acoustic design knowhow of our world-famous hi fi speaker ranges, Monitor Audio's custom installation speakers take our award-winning sound into new areas of the home and even outside by the pool or patio. Unlike many purely custom brands, Monitor Audio can draw upon a record of consistent success in exceeding the demands of the world's most critical audiophile listeners. Our proven technologies and design expertise have been applied to reconcile the desire for bigger, better sound with the need for smaller, more discreet speakers. Monitor Audio's in-wall and in-ceiling designs are amongst the most sophisticated available, delivering very high performance, reliability and ease-of-use in the widest range of locations, and dovetailing beautifully with our hi-fi ranges for the seamless transfer of music and movie sound within and between every room in the home.
From our extensive choice of in-ceiling and in-wall solutions, there is a loudspeaker to suit any environment and application: it's the easiest way to remove unnecessary compromise from stereo to full 7.1-channel theatre systems. For instance our 200 and 300 series in-ceiling and in-wall LCR models utilise a unique Inverted Dual Concentric (IDC) pivoting mid-range/tweeter module providing up to 18 degrees of play. Speakers can be discreetly positioned, and the sound directed into the desired listening zone by pivoting the IDC driver module to maximize performance. These models are true 3-way designs and offer superior performance and flexibility over typical 2-way or fixed angle speakers.
For high-fidelity stereo music and high performance home theatre applications in any room, the Controlled Performance (CP) loudspeakers are fitted with a rigid enclosure to ensure a consistent, high quality sound wherever they are installed. There's even a specialised down-light speaker in the CP range for the most discreet sound of all. And when wide coverage is required, the 100 series in-wall and in-ceiling speakers perform particularly well as stereo pairs and in multi-room music applications, and for high performance stereo sound from a single speaker, the 100 series and CP ranges will oblige.
We've applied our innovative driver technologies and proven acoustic design expertise to create a rich variety of custom speaker solutions for every application. They'll make the job of specifying and installing great sound around the home easier and ultimately more rewarding.

I have been just trawling the various tech websites this morning for anything interesting and came accross this article by Techradar. An article in which they talk to James Cameron who firmly believes that streaming ISN'T the way forward bu that Blu Ray is the Gold standard of film watching and will be for at least a few years to come. Following on from my last post we noticed this 75" monster from Samsung ES9000.
I'm interested to see what Samsung's new "Precision Black Technology" does for the black levels. We still hold Pioneers KRP 500A in such high esteem that we have yet to see a screen with as good as black levels (certainly from an LED/LCD standpoint). And that screen is now 4 years old approximately! We include our own demo flagship Samsung in that.
A Gold-Rose finish aswell? Difficult to say what we think without seeing it in the flesh but I dont think that would be to my tastes. However, 10/10 Samsung for effort. In recent years the TV market has been flooded with "me to" products all of which are similar in appearance. Give us something different! Something premium and give them to specialist retailers who understand what they do!
Pixll (Home Cinema/Hi Fi Leeds) has great pleasure in announcing that we have taken on Audiophile Base as another High end AV/HI furniture option.
Since Audiophile Base's inception in 1993, Audiophile Base has specialised in Vibration Control Technology to combat the detrimental effects of vibration energy on Audio and Home Cinema Equipment. This allows equipment to perform to its optimum level through improved stability.
To achieve this, first came the Base Vibration Control Platform, also known as an Isolation Platform, with its Patented design Suspension System. This provides dissipation of internal energy that is inherent in the equipment plus further protection from air-borne and structure-borne energies.
Then followed a range of Modular Frameworks, with lowered energy storage, to provide support for the Base Platforms. This further enhances the performance of the Platform and provides a multi-level support system for a number of pieces of equipment.
The Base Platform, StandardBase and StarBase Supports, sometimes known as hi-fi racks, are now universally recognised and have over the years received many accolades including a Gold Award and 5 Star ratings in the Hi-Fi Press. They are also highly endorsed by music enthusiasts who want to experience the reproduction of music as it was originally recorded.
A further addition to the Vibration Control Platform range is the StrataBase and to the Audio Support range is the QBase for small equipment. Then at the other end of the scale is the QuattraBase Support for much larger equipment, therefore ever expanding the range to a widening audience of music and film lovers.
