Essential Install Live 2012- Comments and Video by Pixll-Leeds
Morning all,
Pixll attended the Essential Install Live 2012 show at Lancashire County Cricket Club yesterday for the first time. Having been on the committee for the Manchester Hi Fi Show (Radisson Hotel) I'm fully aware how difficult it is for manufacturers and show organisers to stage these shows in the current climate. I have to say I was impressed, what a lovely venue. It was by no means as large as the aforementioned show and certainly nowhere near what we have come to expect from Bristol but then its not meant to. This is a show purely for us custom installers to see what products are out there so we can stay ahead (or at least keep up) with the game. I managed to get some video as usual with my iPhone so apologies for quality but it gives you a taste.
First up was the PMC stand. They had on show the PMC Wafer and Wafer-Art speakers. Having not seen them in the flesh I was very impressed. Very Artcoustic in appearance. The guys had them paired with a Bryston SP3 surround processor and their new digital streamer the BDP 1.
We then headed accross to the Anthem AVS stand. For those that dont know Anthem is one of out favourite AV brands. We've done really well with their MRX700 receiver and last months 5 star review in What Hi FI has done them no harm. Anthem had the D2v Processor, M1 and P5 power amp on display. However this version of the D2v had the 3D board fitted. Unfortunately we didn't get to hear it but we did stroke it!!! :)
Interestingly Anthem AVS also had the new Screen Innovations Black Diamond 100" Projection Screen on show. Unfortunately there wasn't the room to show anything on it but the guys did talk us through it.
Anthem AVS also distribute the range of SIM 2 projectors and we managed to get some brief footage of the three of them. Interestingly the SIM 2 Nero has dropped in price to £10k which I appreciate will be out of reach for a lot of people but for those looking at JVC DLAX90's (or its replacement the X95) the SIM 2 Nero becomes a real option.
Anthem also had this interesting product from Clarke Synthesis. It was one of their transducers. The idea is that its fitted to the underside of your settee and linked to your system so that you get a real sense of vibration during the action scenes. The company says that it has been great for customers who want that sensation late at night but dont want to wake up their children or neighbours. The sub gets turned down and this takes over. Apparently its great for F1 gaming and action games.
We headed accross to the Habitech stand to see if any of the new JVC or Epson projectors were available to view but unfortunately it is a little soon for any further information on them. We did however see these Sonance Outdoor Landscape speakers on the balcony overlooking the cricket ground. We were amazed by the sound coming from these small speakers. At approx £250 each they aren't cheap but very descreet. Having just completed a project where quality outdoor speakers were used (we put in the very similar looking Polk Audio Atrium SAT 30) we can't help but feel these Sonance would have been ideal.
As usual if you need any information on any of the above products or any advice at all please dont hesitate to call Pixll on 0113 2509991 or 07792 361615 or e-mail us on info@pixll.co.uk. We are always happy to chat!
Anthem and Sim 2 at the Gadget Show
Morning all,
Read on for some information about last weeks Gadget Show. I didn't manage to get there unfortunately but I've heard good things. Our favourite AV brand at the minute Anthem in conjunction with Sim 2 and AV Forums apparently played a blinder with their stand. I've attached a link below through to some of the comments made by visitors about the stand and a kit list. As usual for any Home Cinema requirements or any questions on Sim 2/Anthem products please contact Pixll.
TV Buying Guide- An interesting Article
Hi all,
Whilst we dont widely publicise that we sell most makes of tv mainly due to the issues of price and logistics etc we realise how important flat panels are to consumers despite reports from most manufacturers that profits are down and tv sales are dire. I noticed an interesting article on CNET which may be of help to some when chosing a tv. Read on for more info.
